CLIENT CASE 1
WEST KILBRIDE WAR MEMORIAL
In
May 2005, we were instructed by North Ayrshire Council to try
and unearth 2 “time capsules” which were believed
to be buried since World War 1. This work involved careful excavation
by small hand held tools straight down and underneath the granite
of the memorial, so the structure would not be damaged in any
way.
Hampered by very wet weather conditions and for fear of jeapordising
the integrity of the structure and its foundations by further
excavation, the project had to be abandoned. Holes were backfilled
and slabs re-laid, and everyone went home wet and disappointed.
